Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Buchanan County Criminal History does not retain or record those query terms on its own systems.

An email may be kept for the time needed to answer it. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Its content explains how to reach the Buchanan County Sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI Records and Identification section, and Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Independent companies supply the embedded search tools. Input submitted there is governed by that partner’s privacy policy and its own retention or disclosure practices. Review those terms before running a query because this policy does not control the partner’s processing.

Links may lead to the Buchanan County Sheriff, Iowa Courts Online, DCI, the registry, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a reader leaves this site, the destination’s privacy rules apply. Check them before providing personal information.

Those statutes do not turn this private site into a government record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a user may:

- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request access to personal information held about that user
